How to Force ‘4G Only’ on your Android Phone

There are circumstances where you want top-of-the-line network speeds on your machine, and if you’re in an area where the signal isn’t very strong, your connection keeps switching between 4G, 3G, and 2G. (This can be both because of the worldwide connection and because your phone’s earpiece is just dangerous.) Either way, forcing 4G has only been useful to me in such conditions.

Phones today don’t need the flexibility to activate a single mode built into the consumer interface. Beforehand, with some devices, you can find these completely different modes available in the settings. However, Android allows a lot of power, and you can fix this problem with free apps or concepts.

Force LTE Only (4G/5G) Features:

There are a number of unique 4G apps on Play Retailer. Although many have commercials. And since it’s a built-in Android setup, there’s no need to get one that has ads. My favorite app is 4G LTE Switcher (no ads). True to its title, it is ad-free. Try it.

This app has worked for me on TECNO, Infinix and Samsung phones. Which means it should work with most phones with Mediatek and Exynos processors.

However, with some phones, you are likely to get an incompatibility error. So try the following options in:

This has worked on some of my products that I think should have had a Snapdragon processor. I used to dial *#36446337# on my OnePlus to get into engineering mode.

In each mode, you need to go into Networks and set a More Active Mode in the LTE-only menu (or whatever mode you need in the meantime).

For Huawei phones:

I guess this could be a resolution for Huawei with Kirin processor. Or similar to most Huawei phones. Take a look at the post that helped me with this for my P30 Lite.

  • Huawei EMUI eight and below:
  • Open Play Retailer
  • Discover the configuration database editor
  • Set it up on mobile.
  • Open and you will discover
  • System

  • Go to System. Scroll to find hw_networkmode_preference. You will find something like this: “9,6,2,1”. tap on it
  • Add a comma (,) followed by eleven (11) and tap Save Changes. Your new configuration will look like this:

  • Tap + Add new settings at the top.
  • Enter hw_add_4g_only.
  • Tap Save.
  • In Edit Settings, enter your country code, e.g. for example, 254 for Kenya.
  • Press Save mods.
  • Closes the Configuration Database Editor utility.
  • Reboot your cell phone.
  • Once it reboots, go to Settings -> More -> Mobile Neighborhood -> Newer Neighborhood Mode, you will discover the exclusive LTE

  • Instead of adding 11 (eleven) to the list like in the EMUI line 8 above, all you do is remove all the pieces and just put 11 in. Your new
  • configuration will look like this:
  • Before: “9,6,2,1”
  • After: “11”

Force LTE Only (4G/5G)

Please note that if your cell phone or your local provider does not support VoLTE, forcing 4G will only mean that you will not be able to make or receive cell phone calls. So use the mode anytime when you don’t need to make or get cell phone calls.
